BELMOND — Main Street will once again come alive with music, food and family-friendly activities as Fiesta on Main returns Saturday, May 2.
The event, organized by the Belmond Growth Alliance, will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. along the 200 block of Main Street, stretching from the corner near the Santa house.
Belmond Growth Alliance Director Iran “Ronnie” Carlos Martinez said the event has evolved over time, including a name change that better reflects its purpose.
“Fiesta originally was Cinco de Mayo for a long time, but we changed it so that way it would be a little bit more inclusive and more of what people would expect,” Martinez said. “Essentially, it’s a big community party.”
That atmosphere includes a wide variety of vendors, live music and activities for all ages. Children can look forward to face painting, a piñata and the return of a popular chalk activity that transforms Main Street into a canvas.
This year’s event will feature more than 27 vendors, offering a mix of food, treats and shopping options. While traditional Hispanic food remains a highlight, Martinez said expanding the variety has helped the event grow.
That broader mix has helped draw larger crowds each year, with steady attendance throughout the evening as people come and go.
Martinez said the event is designed to be accessible to everyone, with no cost to attend beyond optional purchases from vendors.
Beyond the entertainment, Martinez sees Fiesta on Main as something more meaningful for the community.
“To me, it’s sort of like a big thank you to the community for supporting us in all of our events,” she said. “It’s also a fun way to unwind before the summer begins.”
Martinez encourages residents to come out and enjoy the evening and take part in the celebration.
