WRIGHT COUNTY — As the newly formed Wright County Independent prepares to publish its first issue this week, owner Chris Nelson is reassuring readers that current subscriptions from the Belmond Independent, Eagle Grove Eagle and Wright County Monitor will carry over without interruption.

Nelson said all active subscriptions from the three former newspapers will be honored through their original expiration dates under the new countywide publication.

“We want to make this transition as smooth as possible for our readers,” Nelson said. “If you already have a subscription, you’re covered. There’s nothing you need to do — you’ll continue receiving the newspaper just as you always have.”

The Wright County Independent was created by merging the three longtime publications into a single countywide newspaper, aimed at strengthening local journalism and providing more comprehensive coverage across Wright County.

The first issue of the Wright County Independent will be available to the public and on newsstands Friday.

Nelson said maintaining trust with subscribers is a top priority during the transition.

“These communities have supported their local newspapers for generations,” he said. “It’s important to us that we honor that support and continue delivering a quality product each week.”

Subscribers or community members with questions about their accounts or the new publication are encouraged to reach out.
